Grado hotels: What you should look for and where to stay

GRADO
TIP

Be aware that rates go up in the summer months, and that those in mid-August, when everyone takes vacation, are higher still. Early May and late September are usually the cheapest times to visit. The weather, though, is less likely to cooperate.

Overview
There are countless accommodations when visiting Grado — everything from modern luxury right on the beach to apartments with kitchens across the city to campsites just outside of town. The trick is in knowing where to look. Also consider where you’ll be staying. Do you want to be steps from the beach? Do you want a view? Would you rather stay in the old section of the city, near the restaurants and nightlife? Maybe you’d rather stay farther away and get a better deal.

Hotels
Most of the hotel prices are per person, per night. So if there are two of you, the price is double. Some rates include meals while others may include breakfast. Be sure to ask what is included because each hotel treats things a bit differently. These three hotels offer an English version of their Web site.
Hotel Hannover: This classy hotel faces the city’s main port and is steps from the oldest section of the city. It’s a short walk to each beach.
Grado Grand Astoria: A luxury hotel situated along the boardwalk between Grado’s two beaches. It offers a striking view and many amenities.
Hotel Regina: This centrally located hotel is much more affordable, and still offers many conveniences.

Apartments
Many who come to Grado choose to stay in an apartment with a kitchen. These range from one-room apartments to sprawling homes with many bedrooms. The kitchens generally come with pots, pans, dishes and silverware. If you’re interested in this option, visit gradoapartments.com. They don't have listings on the site, so drop them an e-mail and tell them what you're looking for.
